Great Reno Balloon Race

For more than 25 years people from all over the world have chosen to spend their September mornings at the Great Reno Balloon Race, taking in the spectacular sights and sounds of this unique event Sept. 10-12.

Parking at The Great Reno Balloon Race is extremely limited and traffic can be congested. The information listed below will help make your travel to and from the event enjoyable and hassle free. Remember, Rancho San Rafael Park is only 1.5 miles from downtown Reno and would make a wonderful morning walk for our out-of-town visitors who are so inclined.

RTC RIDE Program
RTC RIDE will be offering park & ride service to and from The Great Reno Balloon Race on Saturday and Sunday. RTC RIDE has pickup points at Meadowood Mall, Reed High School and downtown Reno’s Citicenter. Parking at the Event
If you choose to drive to the event, make sure to arrive early as there is only limited parking at the event site. If you don't mind walking a few blocks you can park for free at the University’s north lots but remember that cars must be removed by 10 a.m. Parking will also be available at the corner of North Sierra Street and McCarran Boulevard and at the Coleman Street parking lot for a donation to the Reno South Rotary Club’s children’s charities.

Handicapped Parking
As always handicapped parking is available at the event for those with a handicapped placard or license plate. Please go to any entrance of the park and you will be directed to a handicapped parking lot. If needed, volunteers with golf carts will be available to transport those unable to walk from the parking lot to the event site. Please be aware, there may be an extended wait time for an available golf cart depending on the number of those requesting assistance.

RV Information.
In 2005, all vehicles including RVs were banned from parking on McCarran Blvd. due to safety concerns of The City of Reno and Police Department. Click here to read more about it.

Rancho San Rafael Park regulations prohibit overnight parking of vehicles. For a list of RV parks in the area please contact Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority at (800) 367-7366 or refer to the list of available parks on the Reno.com Web site.
