Country music heavyweight Randy Travis brings his explosive talent to Silver Legacy's Grande Exposition Hall on Saturday, October 2, at 8 p.m. Travis has worn many hats throughout his career; composer, actor and trend-setting country star, but the one that has always fit best is that of singer, songwriter and performer. His genuine country talent has won him millions of fans the world over and propelled his record sales beyond the 20 million mark.
Travis' music and career have continually evolved since his first release 18 years ago and his newest work, Worship & Faith, is no exception. This album places Travis' engaging baritone against the backdrop of an exclusively acoustic set as he performs 20 worship standards and classic hymns. Travis delivers, putting his own unique country bluegrass stamp on some old favorites including, How Great Thou Art, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, and Open The Eyes of My Heart.
He readily admits that he was taking a bit of a risk when he released his first two country gospel albums Inspirational Journey and Rise and Shine in 2000 and 2003. "It surprised me, I thought a lot of radio programmers might try to avoid it because it came from a gospel label, but the reception was incredible," Travis said. So incredible was the reception that in 2003 Travis scored his first number one country hit in four years with the song Three Wooden Crosses.
Travis has scored 21 number one hits including Better Class of Losers, Before you Kill us All and Spirit of a Boy. He has also collected an amazing 85 awards including four Grammys and 10 American Music Awards.
Travis manages to stay atop his musical game, while moonlighting as a full-time actor as well. He has had guest appearances on Touched by an Angel, Frasier, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and King of the Hill. He has also appeared in 24 feature-length films including Fire Down Below, The Rainmaker, Black Dog, and Texas Rangers.
