Salomon is bringing the excitement of all-mountain skiing to top North American resorts with a new hot-blooded series: The Saab/Salomon X Wing Rally. This unique all-mountain event challenges skiers to explore their favorite resort from top to bottom, for a chance to win a trip to Europe. The Saab/Salomon X Wing Rally comes to Squaw Valley USA on February 3, 2007.

The Squaw Valley USA X Wing Rally is one of five U.S. based Saab/Salomon X Wing Rally events taking place this winter. At each event, fifty teams of two explore inbound terrain and use scavenger hunt tactics to seek out check points. Participants accumulate points by finding waypoints, sighting targets, and tracking vertical. There is no set course or strategy. Teams have the freedom to ski and explore the mountain on their own terms. Participants can opt to be outfitted with Salomon X Wing All Mountain skis, ideal for tackling any type of terrain and snow conditions. Each team will be provided Suunto S6 watches and digital cameras to track vertical and document targets.

The top three teams from the Squaw Valley event will be entered into a lottery to win a trip to Europe to participate in the Saab/Salomon TransAlp X Wing Rally, the ski experience of a lifetime. Over 300,000 vertical feet will be skied as teams traverse the Alps in a Saab 93 Aero Combi and ski 7 resorts in one week.
